Whatever Else the Day Brings
This morning, as on so many other mornings, I met Sarah and two of her dogs for a run.
We often climb up a big hill outside our town: 50-some minutes to the top, look west at Longs Peak and Mt. Meeker, descend and go to work.
I realized this morning that for some reason it gives me peace that whether I go faster or slower, whether I feel strong or weak, whatever else might happen that day, it'll have started with breathing fresh air, inhaling the sweet aroma of Ponderosa Pine and Douglas Fir, and listening to our footfalls as we climb and descend. And as I drive around town and look west, there's something satisfying about being able to say to myself for the rest of the day, "I ran up there this morning."
Today's sunrise was particularly lovely. Enjoy, and see you on the trail!
